Steven Coffland passed away after a courageous battle with leukemia, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born and raised in Seattle, Steve carried his love of the Pacific Northwest throughout his life. As a young boy, he was an award-winning paperboy — an accomplishment he was quietly proud of and one that reflected his steady nature even at an early age. He graduated from Ingraham High School in 1969 and later completed his Associate’s Degree at Shoreline Community College.
Steve worked for Olympic Stain before spending over 35 years as a draftsman with Boeing. He took pride in his work and in the many years he dedicated to his career.
Family was the center of Steve’s world. He was the one making the plans, organizing gatherings, and keeping traditions alive. Annual trips, Seafair weekends, time at the family cabin originally built by his parents, houseboating on Lake Shasta, and shared adventures became cherished rhythms of life. He believed deeply that time together mattered and worked intentionally to make sure those moments happened.
His daughter and grandchildren were his greatest joy. He was always ready for an adventure — camping trips, beach days, cabin weekends, or spontaneous outings that turned into lifelong memories. He rarely showed up empty-handed, often bringing a small toy or thoughtful surprise just to see their faces light up. He was playful, thoughtful, steady, and proud — the kind of grandpa every child hopes to have.
Steve also deeply valued his friendships. He stayed connected, showed up, and made time for the people in his life. He had a gift for storytelling, a wonderful sense of humor, and a well-timed dad joke that could lighten any moment.
He felt most alive outdoors and was a lifelong, devoted fan of hydroplane racing, rarely missing Seafair and traveling to races throughout the years. His enthusiasm for the sport was contagious and part of many shared memories.
Steve is survived by his daughter, his beloved grandchildren, his siblings, extended family, and many cousins and friends who will remember his warmth, humor, and steady presence.
He will be deeply missed.
An 11am viewing followed by 12pm funeral service will be held on March 6, 2026 at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home in Seattle. All who knew and loved Steve are welcome to attend.
