Sumiko Minato
September 20, 1920 – April 12, 2024
Sumiko Minato was born in Rexburg, Idaho to Jinroku and Yasuyo Yamasaki. She is the second oldest of 7 children. She graduated from Sugar-Salem High School in Sugar City, Idaho class of 1938. After graduating High School, she attended the Hazmore School of Dress in San Francisco for 1 year then worked at Pulman Tailors for several years.
She was married in 1947 to Howard Minato.They had been married for 69 years. They have 3 children. After her children graduated High School, she worked for Friedlander’s and Sons Jewelry for 12 years. She did extravagant gift wrapping that included beautiful bows and ribbon roses.
Her hobbies included bowling, golf, line dancing, gardening and walking along the Cedar River Trail. Sumi was known to be tenacious in spirit, kind and loving and beloved by her family. She is survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Private family service to be held.
