Tomoko was born in Seattle in 1939 to Kinue and Kametaro Kawaguchi. She worked for the Bellevue Public Schools for many years. Tomoko was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Thomas, and survived by her children Tina Bean (Mark), Trisha Hyodo (Michael), Traci DeSimone (Chris), and Trent Matsumoto (the late Tiffany), as well as grandchildren Christopher, Alex, Nikki, Blake, Tia, Josh, Kendra, Kelsi, Keely, and great grandchildren Harrison, Tucker, Theo, Madison Tomo, Liam and Gus. As per Tomoko's wishes, no public service will be held.
