Valentina Sergie Mansy passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the age of 94 at Aegis Living on Mercer Island. She was born in Seattle on August 29th, 1930 to Nina and Sergei Aleinikoff and was raised on Beacon Hill. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1948, after which she attended secretarial school.
She met the love of her life Alexander Mansy at Church Youth Group. Following their marriage in 1950, Val and Alex welcomed daughters Vicki and Sue, whom they raised in their lifelong home near Seward Park in Seattle. Val took great pride in her profession as a homemaker, and was the heart of her family.
Entertaining was a focal point in Val’s life, and she was exceptional at it. Val and Alex loved opening their home to family and friends all year long. Summertime was marked by fun and laughter at pool parties in their backyard and holidays always had plentiful meals. One of Val’s passions was making berry jam each summer and gifting them to friends and neighbors, earning her renown for her jam making skills, which she passed to her daughters and granddaughter.
Val and Alex loved travelling and enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and Alaska (where Val always caught the bigger fish), as well seeing the world via cruises. Val’s greatest pleasure in life was family, and she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters Vicki (Dave) Hulse, Sue (Tom) Harrington, brother Paul Aleinikoff, nephew Paul Jr, grandchildren Stephanie (Erik), Greg (Rachel), Brian (Neha), Nick (Vicki), and great-grandchildren Benny, Alex, Maya, and Aria.
The family cannot express enough gratitude to Aegis Living Mercer Island, especially Anna, Riley, Phil, Cindy, Anthony, and Fadumo, as well Nicole, Laurissa, and the team from Eden Health for taking such good care of Val at the end and softening a difficult time.
