Vera Pauline Cornall, longtime Queen Anne resident, passed away peacefully at Bayview Manor on January 25, 2016. Vera was baptized in Blessed Sacrament Church, received her First Communion at St. George Church and was confirmed at Holy Rosary, where she went to grade school. She graduated from West Seattle High School. In 1952, Vera moved to Queen Anne and became an active member of St. Anne Church and was a member of the Sanctuary Society, St. Vincent de Paul, Sacred Heart Shelter, and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Vera joked about her service for the St. Anne community, “Claire Steck and I were one of the first to wear the gold robes with the big blue collar...I also took communion to many shut-ins.” She worked for Van Waters and Rogers for 37 years. She is survived by her niece, Beverley Anne Schultz, and her niece’s husband, Jerry Schultz. A funeral Mass will be celebrated for Vera at St. Anne Church, First Avenue West and West Lee Street, Seattle, Washington 98119 on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to the St. Anne School Scholarship Fund. Special thanks go to the staff and workers at Bayview Manor for the many years they cared for Vera.
