

Vernon Portin was born on May 19, 1923 in Ridgefield, Washington. The fourth son of Felix and Ellen Portin with five brothers and one sister. After serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Second World War, he was discharged in November 1945. Vernon married Margaret Beals in March 1946 in Portland, Oregon and soon after moved to Seattle, Washington where he lived throughout his life.
Vernon and Margaret Portin had three children, Susan, Ron, and Brad and raised them in Seattle and Lake Forest Park, Washington. Vernon Portin spent most of his career in television repair and loved his family, his garden, and raised his family in faith and love.
After Margaret Portin's death in 1993, Vernon was blessed twice with the love of his second wife, Marjorie Zilkey. They married in October of 1995 and spent the next 22 years supporting one another in their elder years.
Vernon Portin is survived by his wife, Marjorie Portin, his children, Susan Portin DePalma and husband Art DePalma of Shoreline, Washington; Ron Portin of Port Townsend, Washington; Bradley Portin and husband Mark Wicks of Coupeville, Washington; stepson Steve Zilkey and wife Connie Zilkey of Gig Harbor, Washington; and, brother Morris Portin of Portland, Oregon.
Vernon Portin is additionally survived by grandchildren: Aaron Rude, Dan Rude, John DePalma, Lisa Maunder, Jeremy DePalma, Michael DePalma, Mary DePalma, Michala Zilkey, Rilee Zilkey, Jonathan Wicks, and Stefan Wicks. As well as great grandchildren, Maddy Rude, Kasey, Rude, Paige Rude, and Jameson Rude.

Parking
Parking in the University District is limited. You may park in any of UPC's lots for free. Guests will find more details about parking at: www.upc.org/parking. Parking in lots belonging to local businesses or other churches in the neighborhood is discouraged. Cars may be ticketed and towed--specifically, no parking in the northbound lanes of 15th after 3pm is strictly enforced by the city.

Enter mid-block on 16th Ave. NE, between NE 45th and NE 47th streets. The garage is handicap and wheelchair accessible and is reserved for those with limited mobility.
