With deep sorrow the family announces the passing of Vinod Kumar Duggal on January 25, 2026, at his home in Seattle, Washington. Born to Husan Lal and Sushila Rani Duggal on April 25, 1944, in Phagwara, Punjab, he lived a life defined by warmth, generosity, and a steady commitment to family and community.
He attended Nutan Marathi High School and earned a BA in Architecture from J.J. College of Arts. His architecture education took him from New Delhi to New York. Seeking a better environment to raise a family, he took an architecture position in Richland, Washington, He always had a passion for exploring different business opportunities, which led to a career in real estate. Throughout his life he remained active in volunteer work, always guided by a belief in service and practical help for others.
He married Veena on October 11, 1970. Vinod and Veena were the first members of their families to migrate to the United States. As the patriarch of the family, he played a central role in reuniting and supporting relatives—sponsoring siblings and helping them settle. Their efforts helped establish a large, close-knit family base across the U.S., built on mutual support and shared opportunity.
Open-minded and progressive, he gently challenged traditions when it meant opening doors for others. He remained a loyal supporter of his alma mater, regularly donating to Nutan Marathi High School so future generations would have opportunities. Friendly, loving, and fun-loving, he was known for bringing joy to family gatherings—often the first to laugh, to dance, and to make others feel welcome.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Veena; his children, Vanisha, Vipin, and Georgette, and his grandchildren, Armondney, Antony, and Willow. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Willie, and his grandson, Ozias. In grieving are family and friends.
A bridge between tradition and progress, he leaves a legacy of kindness, advocacy for education, and a family shaped by his gentle courage and generosity. His smile, warmth, and spirited presence at celebrations will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
