

Virginia was born on January 29, 1918 in Ruby, Alaska to Margaret and Arnulf Haarvei. She moved to the Queen Anne area of Seattle in 1925 and went to Coe Elementary School, Queen Anne High School and graduated from the University of Washington School of Nursing.
She and her husband, Reidar Tanner, were happily married 46 years and had three children: Margaret, Douglas and Shirley Tanner. Virginia and her husband, Reidar, developed and ran the Ski Acres ski area in Snoqualmie Pass, beginning in 1947 until they sold it in 1980 . This was a family-run business and Virginia provided the organizational ability to her husband's visions.
Virginia was a homemaker, tireless worker in the family business, cub scout leader, girl scout leader, seamstress for plays at Catherine Blaine Junior High, pennants and altar cloths for her church and many beautiful costumes and doll clothes for her grandchildren. She is noted for her beautiful garden which supplied many floral arrangements for her church, friends and family. Virginia also traveled extensively to many exotic places.
She was a member of the IOGT, Order of the Eastern Star, Magnolia United Church of Christ, book club, pinochle card group, and active for many years in the Seattle area senior dance groups.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Reidar, and daughter, Shirley; and survived by her children: Margaret Tanner and Douglas Tanner (Dianne); Grandchildren: Kristin Carlson, Erik (Jennifer) Carlson and Kaestle Carlson, Carla (Paul) Geraci and Robyn (Dean) Vergillo; great-grandchildren: Madeline and Heidi Carlson, Jahmal and Sierra Rowe, Miranda and Kate Vergillo, Tanner and Reidar Geraci.
Virginia, we loved you dearly and will miss you in our lives. You will stay in our hearts forever.
