Willa Mae (Willy Tigner) Williams-Gary was born to Willy Tigner and Roberta Jones on August 5, 1946. She was the only child and was primarily raised by her Grandmother Minnie Tigner, where she accepted Christ at an early age. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and resided there until she was 19 years old and decided to relocate to Seattle, Washington with her three young sons Robert, Tony, and Lamont. Willa met her long time and loving husband Oscar Gary in 1978 where they enjoyed over 40 years of life, love, and marriage together until her passing.
Willa was a Seattle public school educator for over thirty-five years, her passion was teaching and training up her young students and in 1992 she continued her education at Central Washington University and received her Bachelor's Degree in Education. Willa taught at many different Schools including: Van Asselt, John Muir, African American Academy (AAA), Cooper, and Denny middle school but she finally settled at Fairmount Park Elementary where she retired at the age of 59 in 2006.
Willa's long-term hobby as well as a second stream of income was selling her AVON, she made a lot of friends and acquaintances while doing so. She enjoyed selling her AVON for over 25 years. She was also a faithful worshiper and loved the Lord dearly, you could find her studying and teaching the word daily. Having her Bible study wherever the Lord saw fit.
Sister Willa was a faithful member of Bible Study Outreach Ministries with Pastor Don Tatum where she played a Godly role in their "Women's Only" Saturday Service. She was responsible for leading others to Christ as well.
She is preceded in death by her parents Willy Tiger and Roberta Jones, grandmother Minnie Tigner, her aunt Kate Tiger, and eldest son Robert Williams
Willa leaves to cherish her memory; her husband Oscar Gary; her sons Tony Williams (Carolyn) of Bowie, MD and Lamont Williams (LaTonya) of Seattle, WA; granddaughters Lateka "Teka" and Tamera Williams of Seattle, WA; grandson Chase Fleming-Williams of Bowie; MD; great grandsons Vaughn Weems and Dar'Shawn Williams-Thomas of Seattle, WA. A host of other relatives, friends and her church family Bible Study Outreach Ministries She will be truly missed.
