William Geoffrey Gjertson Sr.

W. G. Gjertson Sr. (Bill) was born in lola, Wisconsin to Elsie and Orin Gjertson on July 24, 1932 and died on June 14, 2023. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 and was honorably discharged as a decorated Korean War Veteran in 1955. His college education includes a B.S in Physics and Mathematics (Wisconsin State University-Oshkosh) and graduate work in Mathematics and Electronic Engineering (University of Hawali-Manoa and University of Alabama-Huntsville). Bill's career was spent with 4 different Aerospace Corporations performing U.S. Government Defense Work (The Boeing Co., LTV, Kentron International and Sperry International) in various positions of Management, Electromagnetic Effects Engineering and concluding as a Technical Fellow in 2014 after 54 years. Bill married Marianne Helgeson on September 24, 1955 and they had active lives in Church, Community and Family Activities. Marianne (Wife, Mother, Registered Nurse and Interior Designer) and Bill enjoyed their children (Jill, Jo and Geoff (William Jr.)), Nature, Art, World Travel, hiking, cross country skiing, Fine Dining (out and at home) and living in many places in and out of the U.S. Bill and Marianne are also remembered for many new homes, new cars, technological devices and appropriate dress for every occasion. Bill was a member of and held numerous positions with, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, American Defense Preparedness Association, American Helicopter Association and the National Association of Radio and Television Engineers. Bill is survived by Marianne, their 3 Children, 6 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.
