Bill worked as a Seattle Police officer from 1961- 1986, including as a diver and sergeant in Harbor Patrol from 1967-1973, and as Captain of the West Precinct from 1974-1986. During that time he earned a degree from the University of Washington School of Law in 1976, and eventually oversaw the SPD Internal Investigations Unit.
Once retired, he became a lawyer representing policemen in court. Bill loved dogs, sailing off the coast of South America and Mexico with his beloved wife, Linda Soderstrom Taylor, and entertaining children and adults as a Seafair Pirate (incl. as Captain Kidd, 1985).
He is survived by his two sons, William Jr. Taylor of Everett and Lyle Taylor of Marysville, and grandchildren Kiley A. Taylor, Marisa L. Taylor and Joshua Ross (USN). His wife Linda Soderstrom Taylor and grandson Nolan Taylor preceeded him in death in 2024. A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Washelli Cemetery at 2pm on Friday, April 17, 2026.
