
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, 83 years old, went to heaven on Oct. 22nd, 2003, with her husband Beryl and extended family at her side after a short struggle with pancreatic cancer. She leaves behind Beryl, husband of 62 years, son Rod Pat, daughter Shirley Kerry Tupper all of West Seattle, grandchildren Craig Tupper of Mountlake Terrace, Kimberly Tupper of West Seattle, and Eric & Warren Ash, Matthew & Bryan Tupper, college students in the Seattle area, brother Fred Ball of Portland. Preceding her in death were infant grandson Kirk Tupper and younger sister Helen Akesson of Portland. Winifred was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and a benefactor of Children' s Orthopedic Hospital. This was a special interest of hers since her two grandsons were treated there. Her ancestors, assisted in founding Harvard University. Winifred was born May 13th, 1920 at home in Kennewick and grew up in neighboring Finley on a farm. After marrying Beryl, they moved extensively for several years; Silverdale, Anchorage, Marblemount, North Seattle, Ephrata to name a few, before settling down in West Seattle where they have lived with their family for over 40 years. With her husband, she enjoyed fishing, RV?ing with family and saw much of the continental US, Canada and Alaska. They often spent several weeks fishing in Alaska and a month fishing & camping at Lake Curlew in the spring. Her entire family children & grandchild cruised the Caribbean & the Panama Canal to celebrate Beryl and her 80th birthdays 3 years ago over Christmas. Winifred spent her final days, at home, surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren, sisters in law and brothers in law, a tribute to the importance and love of family throughout her life! Memorial service Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, 2:00pm at West Side Presbyterian Church, 3601 California Ave. SW, Seattle, 98116. The family suggests remembrances to Children?s Orthopedic Hospital.
