Albert John Campbell was born to William and Nellie Irene (Ferry) Campbell on a farm outside of Fort Worth Texas on April 7, 1925. He was one of eight children. Albert passed away in his sleep with his loving wife Margaret beside him early in the morning Monday September 21, 2015 at the age of 90.
Albert was a Marine. He lied about his age to get into the Marine Corps and was part of the first wave of Marines to land on the beaches of Iwo Jima. Albert was one of the few Marine Paratroopers. He served in every conflict from WWII through Vietnam retiring on March 1, 1978. Albert was awarded the purple heart three times but would only accept the first two. He married Margaret Stinton while stationed in Yuma, Arizona 60 years ago.
Albert was very lovable. His family meant a lot to him and he enjoyed tinkering around in his garage. He loved photos and using his carpentry skills to make picture frames, built half of the house they lived in and all of the cabinetry in their home. He taught his family how to fish and helped raise the troublemakers in the family, setting them on the straight and narrow so they enjoy a fruitful life.
Albert didn't care much for ceremony or pageantry.
He was a Marine, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother and an uncle. He will be greatly missed.
