

Dr. Alton Henry Cook, Jr. passed away on November 2, 2012. Alton was born on December 5, 1936 and raised in Seguin, Texas. He graduated from Seguin High School in 1954. Dr. Cook Attended Texas Lutheran College and graduated from the University of Texas where he earned both a B.S. of Electrical Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration. He also earned a Ph.D. of International Business from UT Pan American. His dissertation focused on the Economic Impact of NAFTA and Transfer Pricing. His credentials included a CPA, Customs Broker, Certified Valuation Analyst, and he was accredited in Business Valuation.
Alton began his career with Westinghouse Electric and later joined General Electric in their finance division. Alton established several business entities in the Rio Grande Valley including a Staffing firm in Edinburg, Harlingen and Laredo, a Technology Applications and a CPA firm in Edinburg, Texas. Among his accomplishments, Alton worked for UT Pan American and UT in Brownsville as a Lecturer of Finance. Alton was active in the area community, serving as President of the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the vestry of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. Among his memberships, Alton was active with the Edinburg Rotary Club and UT Pan Am Alumni Association.
Alton was preceded in death by his parents, Alton H. Cook, Sr. and Mary Ann Thompson Cook of Seguin, Texas. He is survived by his wife Diana Del Toro-Cook and daughters, Courtney Johnson and her husband Jim Johnson, of Austin their two daughters, Adelaide and Catalina. Jennifer Cook of Austin. Stephanie R. Vacroux and her husband Nick Vacroux their daughter Vivienne of Dallas. He is also survived by his step daughters Liza Isabella Alamia and Matt Isakson of Austin. Jennifer Jude Alamia and Robert L. Walsh III of San Antonio. Janelle Jude Alamia and daughter Mia Jade Del Rio. Alton is also survived by his sister Marilyn and her husband Robert Kerr of Santa Anna their three sons, John, James and William of Texas, Colorado. Jeannette Schaleben of Austin, Texas

Alton was laid to rest in San Geronimo Cemetery in Seguin, Texas on Monday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. A memorial service will take place at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church at a later date.
