

Andres “Wimpy” Salas entered into rest in the arms of God at his home in Seguin while surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the age of 80. . He was preceded in death by his father and mother; Francisco and Seferina (Arredondo) Salas; his brothers; Procorro Salas, Felix Salas and Juan Salas as well as his sisters; Josefina Frausto, Lucia Contrerras, Maria Salas, Manuela Casteneda and two great grandbabies.
Please join Andres’s family on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 for a time of visitation at Goetz Funeral Home, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with his funeral service beginning at 7:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to return to Goetz at 8:00 Thursday morning for a short final visitation and prayer service which will begin at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery, 1620 East Walnut Street, Seguin Texas.
“Wimpy”, a hardworking, loving and generous family man was born November 10, 1934 in Fentress, Texas to Francisco and Seferina (Arredondo) Salas whom were migrant workers. He was one of 10 children. As he grew, his family moved often to follow the harvest. Due to the nature of their lives, he was never allowed to attend school and began working with his parents at a very young age. Even though had no formal education, he learned how to read by using the Bible. On July 22, 1957, Andres married Patsy Leos in Seguin, Texas. Together they raised their family in Seguin. “Wimpy” loved to fish. He would often fish at Starke Park or at the coast in Rockport. When he wasn’t fishing, he would be working. Andres retired from Tyson Foods after 48 years for service where he was the cleanup supervisor and was responsible for a clean and sanitary processing plant. “Wimpy” loved to talk to people and share the word of God which not only made him a good fisherman; but also a fisher of men.
Andres leaves behind his wife of 57 years Patsy Salas, his son Frank Salas and his partner Tammy Grotherues, Daughters; Rita Salas, Patsy Thorsteinson and her husband Lonnie, Sandra Hart and her husband Lewis; his sisters Ninfa Rodriguez and Francis Sassebhagen. He will also be missed by his six grandchildren; Traci Salazar and her husband Joe; Lewis Hart; Dillon Hart and his partner Summer Woods; Ryan Thorsteinson and his partner Nancy Herrera; Bethany Thorsteinson and Matthew Hart as well as four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
