

of Seguin, Texas passed away unexpectedly on June 4, 2015 following a heart attack while at work. He was 56 years old. Friends and family are invited to Goetz Funeral Home on Thursday, June 11, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm for a time of visitation. David’s graveside funeral service will follow on Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park 2951 State Hwy 46 South in New Braunfels at 3:00 pm. Services will be officiated by Chaplain Tom Jones from Guadalupe Regional Medical Center.
David was born in San Antonio Texas on August 22, 1958 to Charles Mixon & Emma Louise (Woelke) Davenport. He graduated from Seguin high School in 1976, served as a volunteer fire fighter in the late 70’s and as a volunteer with the Guadalupe Sheriffs Department in the early 80’s, giving up the excitement of those career paths following the birth of his daughter, Christina. David attended and graduated from South West Texas State in 1981 with a BA in Business and his teaching credentials as he planned to become a teacher. In 1983 David went to work for Marble Masters in Seguin where he remained for ten years until he changed his career to millwright at Motorola. David worked hard at Motorola, now Continental Automotive Systems in Seguin, dedicating many long hours and stretches to make sure the machinery was working at peak performance. He remained with Continental for over 21 years until his sudden passing. David was a simple guy, He loved his daughter, she was number one in his world. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of catfish and coleslaw, soft serve ice-cream, grilling and getting on his tractor and shredding. He loved to be outside and was a casual rancher, raising a dozen or so cattle at a time taking them to market when needed. He was a gentle giant of a man with a huge caring heart.
David was preceded in death by his mother Emma Davenport, his brother Stephen. He is survived by his loving daughter Christina, his special friend Thistle Funk, his sister Patricia “Susie” Callahan and her husband Bob; his brother Charles “Chuck” Davenport and wife Julia as well as his father Charles M. Davenport and his nephew Allen Peppers.
