

Edwin William Schramm Jr died peacefully on June 21, 2012. He was born on August 3, 1921. He was the first born son of Edwin William Schramm and Ida Pauline Seydler Schramm in Wharton, Texas and grew up in Victoria, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jarvis Deane Malone Schramm and their 7 children: Edwin William (Bill) Schramm III and his wife Patsy, Betty Deane Schramm Weber, Martha Schramm Weber and her husband Jimmy, Michael Schramm, John Schramm and his wife Susan, Robert Schramm and his wife Meg and David Schramm. Ed has 17 grandchildren: Patrick Schramm, Paige Schramm, Byron Weber, Michelle Weber, Carl Weber, Mary Elizabeth Weber, Pauline Turner, Nicholas Weber, Sarah Anderson, Mikayla Schramm Pierce, Amanda Schramm, Dylan Schramm, Braydon Schramm, Kendall Schramm, Karisa Schramm, Justin Schramm and Jared Schramm. Ed has 18 great grandchildren: Amber Weber, Michael Van Winkle, Marissa Weber, Victoria Taylor, Frank Weber, Hannah Weber, Taylor Martinez, Seth Weber, Ella Beck, Thekla Beck, Konner Turner, Sasha Breda, Nathaniel Weber, Charlotte Anderson, Bruce Anderson, Marlee Pierce, Whitney Schramm, Ava Pierce. Ed is also survived by his brother Art Schramm and his wife Wendy and Joe Schramm and his wife Donna.
Ed served in the United States Marines during WWII. He served in the Air Force Reserves. He worked at Randolph Air Force base as an aircraft maintenance supervisor from 1950 until in his retirement in 1980. He worked for several years after his retirement in the oilfield service industry.
Ed enjoyed serving others, he lived this daily thru his active participation in the Knights of Columbus and their numerous community service projects and his service as a driver for the American Cancer Society Road to Recovery Program. He spent over 20 years coaching his sons and others in the Seguin Little League Association.
Ed’s passion was genealogy. He was an active member of the Guadalupe County Genealogical Society and spent many fun filled hours driving the back roads of Guadalupe and surrounding counties in search of cemeteries.
Services will be held at St James Catholic Church in Seguin, TX on Monday June 25, 2012. Visitation will begin at 8:30 AM with a recitation of the Most Holy Rosary at 9:30 AM. Mass will begin at 10:00 AM. Entombment will take place at the mausoleum at the St James Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the St James Catholic School.
