While in elementary school in Corpus Christi, she met her future husband, Clarence J. Urban, who was the only sweetheart of her life. They were married on April 11, 1953.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Deborah Kay Urban. She is survived by her loving husband, Clarence, her daughter, Lucinda (Cindi) and husband, Frank Kincaid, of Seguin, and five grandchildren, Melody, Brent, Chance, Samantha, and Myles Beicker. She is also survived by two sisters, Margaret and husband, Bill Graeber, of Corpus Christi, and Judith and husband Jim Johnson, of Seguin, and many nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth was a faithful and active member of Faith Lutheran Church, Church Women United, and a board member and newsletter editor of the Townewood Homeowners Association. She volunteered at local nursing homes and at Guadalupe Regional Hospice.
During her 77 years, Liz accomplished much wherever she lived. In Corpus Christi, she was instrumental in starting the United Cerebral Palsy support group. In New Braunfels, she was part of the group that gave Hope Hospice its beginnings. As Director of the Community Service center, she took a struggling program and turned it into a thriving organization. In bringing the Red Stocking Revue to New Braunfels, a community came together to entertain and raise funds in support of the Community Service Center. In Clifton, Texas, she initiated the thrift store at the Lutheran Sunset Home to better the lives of its residents with equipment and facility improvements. She worked tirelessly to get a correct interpretation of a federal law to allow younger special needs individual’s entry into nursing homes for a comfortable living environment. She touched many lives with her selfless and dedicated enthusiasm to make changes and improve life for many.
Elizabeth’s earthly life will be celebrated at Faith Lutheran Church on December 10 at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Guadalupe Regional Hospice, or the charity of one’s choice.
