Geraldine H. Webb, a longtime resident of Seguin and philanthropist, passed away suddenly late Friday evening, August 14, 2015 after a short stay at Sundance Inn in New Braunfels, Texas at the age of 76. She was born October 26, 1938 to Joseph and Lenora (Buttrill) Hancock in LaMesa, Texas. She was always very proud of being a Hancock as she was a direct descendant of our countries forefather, John Hancock.
Friends and family are invited to Goetz Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 between 5 and 8 pm for a time of visitation and refreshments. Geraldine’s funeral service will commence at 10 am on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Goetz Funeral Home 713 N. Austin Street in Seguin with interment services following at San Geronimo cemetery where she will be interred next to her loving husband Birl Webb.
Geraldine had very strong principles and stubbornly adhered to them. She was a voracious reader whom not only read books but detailed them, adding newspaper clippings which supported the story. Her favorite reading materials included accounts of the assassination of JFK, leading many to believe she may have solved the mystery which has always surrounded this tragic event. Even though she was not a librarian; Geraldine proudly belonged to the National Librarian’s Association. She married Birl Burchel Webb in Bakersfield, CA in 1977. She moved to Seguin in 1985 with her husband. Shortly after their move, he was killed in an automobile accident. Following his passing she moved away for a short period and then in faith, returned to Seguin to fulfill his wishes. Geraldine will be remembered as a realtor, a Real-estate broker, antique collector and broker-dealer. She raised terriers and actively donated to many organizations including the Salvation Army, The Silver Center and the Guadalupe Valley Family Violence Shelter / Woman’s Shelter.
Geraldine is survived by her sons Larry Kenneth Webb and his wife Geralynn, John William Webb and his wife Karen, Granddaughter Courtney Lynn Beam and her husband Timothy, grandsons Lawrence Webb, James Webb and granddaughters Emily Webb and Lauren Webb as well as her great-grandchildren Nicholas and Kara Beam and her Jack Russell Terrier Roxy.
