

Ira Levi Miears; the oldest member of his plumber’s union Local 142, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. He was 95 years old. Ira was born January 14, 1919 to Edgar William & Mildred Marie (Raley) Miears in Sharp Texas. He was an US Army Veteran in WWII having served as an infantryman in the North Apennines Campaign, the Central Europe Campaign and the Rhineland Campaign. During his service he was awarded a Purple Heart after being shot by a sniper from a church bell tower in Germany.
Ira lived in Seguin for over 46 years and worked as a plumber for Mueller & Wilson. He was a member of the American Legion H.U. Wood Post 245 and the Grace Lutheran Church family.
Ira was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 49 years, Jo Miears, his daughter Barbara Watson, his son Wayne Hollimon and by two grandsons.
Ira is survived by his daughter Florence Raney and her husband Pete of Kyle Texas; his son Richard Miears and his wife Emily of San Antonio, Texas; his son Al Hollimon and his wife Debbie of Plano, Texas his brothers Weldon and Doyle and his sister Merle. His presence will also be missed by his twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and his three great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous family members and friends.
Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from 5 to 8 pm in the Goetz Family Room at Goetz Funeral Home 713 North Austin Street, Seguin, Texas.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, officiated by Reverend Richard Mittelstadt, at Grace Lutheran Church 935 East Mountain Street, Seguin Texas at 10:00 am with interment following at San Geronimo Cemetery in Seguin.
