

Lamoyne W. “Chief” Blessing passed away on August 25, 2011 at the age of 87. He was born in South Sioux City, Nebraska to Walter and Gladys Blessing on June 30, 1924. He attended Kenmore High School in Kenmore, New York. He graduated from Union College in Schenectady, New York. Lamoyne was a Veteran of World War II.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 55 years Marjorie Blessing. He is survived by his son, Brett Blessing; his daughter, Lori Mery and husband Bruce; his grandchildren, Hannah Mery, Chance Blessing and Aaron Mery.
Lamoyne and Marjorie were entrepreneurs in Seguin, Texas and were the owners and operators of Blessing Fried Chicken, Tiara East Apartments and the Cascade Gift Shop. Lamoyne was a member of the First United Methodist Church and participated in Methodist Men. He was also a member of many civic organizations including the Elks and Lions Club. Lamoyne had a full life and enjoyed the company and companionship of his family and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Goetz Funeral Home from 3-9 pm with the family present from 5-6 pm. A public graveside service will be held on Monday at 9:30 am at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park with military honors. A memorial service will follow at First United Methodist Church at 10:30 am.
