Laura Mae Gerdes

She was born on February 1, 1927 in Seguin, TX to Eugene and Ella Zwicke Schulze.

Laura Mae is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Elroy Schulze.

She is survived by her husband George Gerdes of 69 years; her children Michael Gerdes and wife Hattie; Deborah Gerdes Almquist and husband Scott; a brother, Arnold Schulze and wife Verlyn of Seguin; one sister, Evelyn Norman and husband Bert from Malakoff, TX.

She had three grandchildren, Jon Gerdes and wife Christina of Berlin Germany; Kristin Griffin and husband Brian, and Andrew Almquist. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Laura Mae lived life to the fullest. She was in many things; Emanuel’s Lutheran Ladies Aid and Dorcus Circle at church and Texas Extension Education Association and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved working with her flowers and feeding her birds.

A visitation will be held at Goetz Memorial Chapel on Thursday, October 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 10, at Emanuel’s Lutheran Church, 206 N. Travis Street in Seguin and officiated by Pastor Paul Zwarich. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Please visit Mae’s online register book at www.goetzfuneral.com.
