

Lola Nickell loving mother to Jerrie, Rainell, Kenneth and Diane passed away peacefully Monday, December 15, 2014 at Warm Springs Health Care in New Braunfels, Texas at the age of 87. Lola was preceded in death by her husband Hugh, daughter Anita Diane Bloch and her son-in-law Milton Bloch.
Lola was born at home on the family farm in Kingsbury, Texas to Oscar and Olga (Wagenfuehr) Lorenz on September 28, 1927. She was one of seven children. Lola lived her whole life in and around Seguin. She attended school in the Kingsbury and Zorn area. On April 19, 1945 Lola married Hugh Nickell and together they raised four children. Lola worked at Hexcel Fiberglass for many years and later operated a day care for her neighborhood children. Lola was an Eastern Star, Loved to work on 1000 piece puzzles, Work her vegetable garden raising some of the largest tomatoes in the area. She also raised purple Martins, canned figs and treated her family to wonderful homemade cinnamon rolls.
Lola is survived by her children Jerrie Jahns and her husband Arlon; Rainell Heiman and her husband Harold and Kenneth Nickell and his wife Fran. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Melissa Baethge and her husband Dewayne; Tracy Brucks and her husband Rob; Jennifer King and her husband Rocky and Michael Jahns. She also leaves her grandchildren: Julee Chinn and her husband Steve, Rebecca Murray and her husband Cody; Michael DeMotte and his wife Jessica, Daniel Nickell; Donna Lomas and Darryl Bloch. She will also be missed by her 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and her brother Lester Lorenz.
Friends and family are invited for a time of visitation at Goetz Funeral home on Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 5 to 8 pm. Friends and family are invited to return to Goetz for Lola’s Funeral service on Friday December 19, 2014 at 9:00 AM.
