

Modesta “Momo” Cardenas, of Seguin, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the age of 100 years. She was born to Francisco Cardenas and Juana (Castillo) Cardenas in Lockhart, Texas on February 24, 1916. A resident of Seguin for most of her life she was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and was very fond of the community and people of Seguin and surrounding areas. She was co-founder of El Ranchito Restaurant and along with her sister operated the business for many years. She loved all of her nieces and nephews and treated each of them as if they were her very own.
She is preceded in death by her three sisters, Benigna, Cruz, and Ofelia; two brothers, Jose and Lupe; two nieces, Gloria Gonzales and Hope Mertz. She is survived by her sister, Trinidad “Trini” Cardenas; nieces and nephews, Dolores Flores, Inez Villarreal, Abelardo Salazar, Toribio Salazar, Dora Aleman, Frances Tristan, Albino Salazar, Jr., Daniel DelaGarza and Grace Camarillo; and numerous great nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The Family would like to thank all the Staff at the Nursing Home, and the Hospice Staff for all of their care and compassion in caring for Momo in her final days.
A Rosary will be recited 9:30 AM Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Immediately following the Rosary, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated staring at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Arrangements under the direction of Goetz Funeral Home, Seguin, TX.
