Polly was born in Alice, Texas on January 5, 1926. She graduated from high school as salutatorian in 1942. She attended Texas A&I in Kingsville and worked for Humble Oil Company Laboratory in Ingleside, TX during World War II. She married John, a naval aviator flight instructor on October 26, 1944. Following the war, the couple moved to California until 1960 when the family moved to St. Louis. While in St. Louis, Polly was the creator and served as editor of the “Spotlight on Youth”, a twice weekly page in the St. Louis Globe Democrat newspaper—the largest morning paper in the St. Louis area—where she was an award-winning photojournalist.
The Nash family has been residents of Seguin for more than 35 years. Upon moving to Seguin, Polly served as the coordinator of the Guadalupe Valley Hospital Volunteers (The Pink Ladies), served as editor of the bi-weekly Scroll publication for over 20 years, served as past president of the UMW participating in various roles of that organization. In 1976, Polly and John and John, III opened Greenery Station Restaurant on the 123 Bypass where Polly served as “head cook”—many Seguinites remember her wonderful homemade biscuits, muffins, and spinach soufflé. Polly loved gardening and cooking, but mostly, she and John loved to travel worldwide. The family is positive that she has boarded the best cruise line yet, taking in heaven’s loveliest sights.
