Rayna E. Foerster

She was born June 1, 1926 in Guadalupe County, TX to Ervin and Alvina Raske Merz at their home. She attended the Santa Clara School up to the 5th grade and then worked at the farm. She met the love of her life, Leroy H. Foerster, at the Blue Moon Hall in Marion, TX and they were married on January 2, 1947. During this marriage, they had four kids- Diana, Virginia, Leroy and Mary Louise.

Rayna is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leroy, her daughter Diana Foerster Thompson, sister Hazel Merz Bodza, brothers-in-law Kenneth Foerster, Frank Shannon, Leon Hoehne, Atlee Fritz and her sister Ruby Merz Fritz, son-in-law Donald Valchar and her nephews Brian Bodza and Robert Shannon.

She is survived by three children, Virginia (Forester) Valchar, Leroy E. Foerster, Mary Louise Foerster; four grandsons, Ross Eron Thompson, Russell Travis Thompson, Justin Wade Thompson and wife Samantha and Christopher Foerster. She is also survived by two great granddaughters, Skyler Ray McKee Foerster and Lulu Pearl Thompson, sisters Agnes Merz Hoehne, Evelyn Merz Haas and husband Ewald, sisters-in-laws Jocelyn Shannon, June Foerster and Betty (Foerster) Fischer and husband Erwin and brother Erwin Merz Jr. and wife Barbara (Zimmerman) Merz and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and dear friends.

Visitation will be at Goetz Funeral Home in Seguin from 4-7 pm on Thursday, May 30th. Funeral services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Marion at 10 am Friday May 31st. Interment will follow at St John Lutheran Cemetery with a reception to follow at St John Lutheran Church Educational Building.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St John Lutheran Church, Guadalupe Regional Hospice Services or the charity of your choice.
