Ruby entered into the Lord’s joyous kingdom on September 28, 2014. She was born to Ebb and Louise Garrett on December 28, 1922 at their home in Fordtran, Texas, north of Victoria. Ruby was baptized at Hebron Baptist Church as a teenager. She attended Lander School and graduated. She worked at Tex-Tan leather shop and later was manager at a flower shop in Yoakum.
Ruby married the love of her life, Lester Jaroszewski, on March 18, 1946, after his return from Europe at the end of World War II. Shortly afterward, she became a member of the Lutheran faith. During Lester’s 20-year service in the U.S. Air Force, they traveled a great deal, including being stationed overseas, which thrilled them. After Lester’s military service concluded, they lived in Austin for several years and continued their travels. Eventually, Ruby and Lester moved to Seguin to enjoy raising cattle and growing flowers and vegetables. Later in life, Ruby became a fierce domino player.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her husband Lester. She is survived by daughters Beverly Jaroszewski of Round Rock, and Denise Chandler of Dallas along with her husband Don, and several nieces and nephews.
Ruby always considered herself fortunate to have such a blessed and loving life. Service in the Church was integral to her life, teaching Sunday school, serving on the altar guild, sewing quilts, and other roles. Ruby also served her community as an active member of the Guadalupe County Republican Women. Being a wife and mother gave her the most pride. She raised her children with an abundance of love and encouragement. Ruby lived a good life and, as so many have said, was a sweet lady.
Funeral services will commence at 10:00 am on Friday, October 3rd, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church 1326 East Cedar Street, Seguin Texas. (830) 379-7074 with interment following at Guadalupe Valley memorial Park 2951 State Hwy 46 South, New Braunfels, Texas.
