Samuel Constance Janysek was called home by our heavenly Father on Friday, October 9, 2015 at the age of 86 while surrounded by the love of his family. He was born February 12, 1929 to Edward and Susan (Pawelek) Janysek of Karnes County Texas. Sam was raised in Karnes County with his 3 sisters and 5 brothers. He attended Ruckman School and served two years in the US Army from 1951 to 1953.
Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 4 to 7 pm. A rosary service will immediately follow at 7 pm at Goetz Funeral Home. Sam’s funeral mass will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 10:00 am at Saint James Catholic Church, 510 Camp Street in Seguin, with entombment following at Saint James Cemetery, 660 Dolle Ave. Seguin.
Sam married Lorraine Lyssy April 27, 1953 and enjoyed 62 years of marriage together. Sam moved his family from San Antonio to Seguin in 1968. He was a home builder in both San Antonio and Seguin, raised pecans on five acres of land, and raised and sold Saint Augustine sod when the trees were too young to produce nuts. He was industrious; producing his own tools to fit his special projects. He is a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus with St. James Catholic Church in Seguin. Sam is preceded in death by his sister, Theresa Moczygemba and his brothers: Vincent Janysek, Edward Janysek, Jr., Ernest Janysek, Alvin Janysek as well as his grand-daughter Melissa Obets.
Sam is survived by his loving wife Lorraine; his daughters: Cindie Obets and her husband Greg and Cheryl Cerda and her husband John; his sons: Ronald Janysek and his wife Debbie, Eric Janysek and his wife Heather, Norbert Janysek and his wife Robin, David Janysek, Brian Janysek and his wife Janet, 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and his sisters: Gladys Jendrusch and Helen Malik and brother Benny Janysek.
