Vernell Teague Morris

Vernell Morris of Seguin, Texas passed away peacefully in San Antonio early Saturday morning, June 20, 2015. She was 87 years old. Friends and family are invited to Goetz Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm for a time of visitation. Vernell’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 in the Chapel at Goetz Funeral Home at 10:00 am. She will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with her beloved husband Russell Morris whom passed away in 2008.

Vernell was born Sunday, September 11, 1927 in Haleyville, Alabama to Hurst and Vera Teague. She was a simple person and enjoyed simple pleasures. She took great pride in hard work and her spotless house. She worked for over 40 years in food service in the Andrews School District and the Seguin Independent School District. She enjoyed Alabama football, her grandchildren and was devoted to her faith. Vernell was preceded in death by her loving husband Russell, and her sisters Irene Harris, Iva Lea Kidd and her brother Travis Teague.

She is survived by her daughter Martha Andrews and her husband Randy, her grandchildren Robb Nixon and his wife Lori, Bruce Nixon and his wife Sherri and Todd Nixon. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Holt, Hunter, Alexis, Hadley, Parker, Cooper and Spencer as well as her sisters Edith Jolley, Dean Pearson and Betty Rains.
