Alice T. Smith

She will be lovingly remembered for her kind and generous heart, intelligence, strong will, and remarkable determination. Alice was a fighter until the very end and faced life with courage, grace, and unwavering strength.

Alice attended Franklin K. Lane High School and was a devoted member of Our Lady of Good Hope Church in Pinellas Park, FL. She began her professional life as a teacher, where she had the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. Later, she worked as a transcriptionist in surgical pathology, a role that reflected her intelligence, attention to detail, and dedication.

Outside of work and family, Alice enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She was an avid reader and an accomplished knitter, always finding comfort and enjoyment in a good book or a project made with her own hands. She had a sharp mind, a strong personality, and a caring nature that made her uniquely herself. Those who knew Alice will remember her determination, her wit, her generosity, and the love she had for her family.

Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward John Smith Jr.; her parents, Alice Theresa Rohr and Robert Hommel; her daughter, Eileen T. Johnson; and her siblings, Roberta Fallon and Margaret Hommel.

She leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory in their hearts: her children, Robert Smith, Kevin (Francine) Smith, Brian (Marla) Smith, and Alison Sarmiento; eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Alice's greatest legacy is the family she loved and the memories she created with those closest to her. Her strength, wisdom, and caring spirit will continue to live on through the generations. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Hope Church, 5501 62nd Avenue North, Pinellas Park, FL 33781.

Alice will be laid to rest at Garden Sanctuary Cemetery in Seminole, FL

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Alice’s memory to the ALS Foundation or plant a tree in her memory.
