Andrea was born on May 4, 1954, in Garrison, New York — a place of exquisite beauty overlooking the famous Hudson River. It was a fitting birthplace for a woman of her caliber of immeasurable class and grace who would carry that same extraordinary grace and elegance with her every day of her life. She was the beloved daughter of Xenophon and Georgia Diamond — a family whose roots ran deep in our Greek Orthodox faith, service, and community. To grow up as the Dean's daughter of St Basils Academy was to grow up understanding what it meant to serve others, to lead with humility, and to hold a community together with Christ as the center of it all. Everything that made Andrea so remarkable — her grace, her devotion, her selflessness — was all rooted in our Greek Orthodox faith and in that sacred place still known as St Basils Academy where it all began for her.
Andrea was the proud, beloved wife of Foti for 50 glorious years. Their marriage was a sheer testimony that true love really did exist in this world. Anyone that knew them knew the rarity of their kind of love. They met when she was just 17 years young, she took him to her prom in 1972 and they ran away and eloped soon after before having their church wedding a few months later.
Andrea is survived by her two children Vicki and Christo, her beloved son in law David and her beloved daughter in law Desiree, her sister Voula Regos in Tennessee and her biggest pride and joy in life, her sunshine, her Koukla, her whole world… her beautiful Granddaughter, Melina.
There are people who pass through this world and leave it unchanged. And then there are rare, luminous, irreplaceable souls who touch every life around them so deeply that the world is simply never the same without them. Andrea was one of those souls. May her bright and shining light live on forever and may her memory be eternal. Amen.
