Born May 9, 1936, Anthony was delivered by the doctor, and poet William Carlos Williams. The attending nurse regarded his hands, exclaiming: "he is born to heal people."
Raised by his grandparents from the age of two, the mountains, woods, lakes of Maine became his family. A lifelong hiker and climber, he inspired his children and their friends to begin hiking and kayaking--a passion they now share with their own children. At age 13 he moved to be with his mother who worked in Washington DC, where he served as a U.S. Senate Page for four years. He was a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps in Japan, a country he loved.
He graduated from American University and worked with Philip Carey, Jim Walter Co. He later discovered his birth predicted gifts when he attended school in Gainesville to become a Soma practitioner. Anthony was a lifelong student, always eager to learn new healing methods. He and his wife Suzanne, a renowned colonic therapist and teacher, operated a fine healing center in Tampa. He taught at two massage schools and also worked with children afflicted with cerebral palsy. He was always researching ways to approach the body using unique techniques to bring balance of body, mind and spirit. Many of his clients called him: “The Body Whisperer”.
Even during his last weeks of valiantly fighting his illness, he offered healing to nurses and family who were attending his needs. He is survived by his daughter Stephanie and her husband Tom; from whom he learned to hunt and fish in recent years, and their three children, Aaron, Shannon, and Noah. He is survived by: his daughter Bethana and, her two children: Gabriel and Oliver, his beloved wife Suzanne, and her children whom he co-parented from childhood Danielle and Nathaniel. Nathaniel blessed Anthony with a daughter- in- law named Lauren, and their three children, Haydyn, Reese and Emmett Cooper.
Many special people came to offer their healing touch, their support and their love. Special people like his former wife, Megan Gray, Diane Murray, Jane Hollister, Liz Hollister, Renee George, Carl Cowden, Shannon Bradley, and Elise Zotos. We will always be eternally grateful to you all.
We will deeply miss his incredible healing hands, brilliant mind, thoughts of wisdom, and his ongoing words of advice. His passion and desire to share his love through his culinary art, will always be remembered.
