HILKER, Charles Richard, 84, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Gulf Shore Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Pinellas Park FL. He was born May 18, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of George Dewey Hilker and Rosamond “Smith” Hilker. Charles moved to Florida in 1985 from Laurel, Maryland, where he worked as a model maker at the David Taylor Model Basin. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in 1946 and 1947. He was a collector of stamps and coins. He enjoyed boating and bowling, and was a fan of NASCAR.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda L. “Kennedy” Hilker; step-sons, Alton Ray Loveless and Jerry Robert Loveless; step-daughters, Kathy L. Davidson and Karen L. Blankenship; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services with Military Honors held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home.
