Donald Fournier Sr., age 87, passed away on October 29, 2024 in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. He was born in Norwich, Connecticut and moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1971 with his wife, Juanita Fournier, and three children.
In 2013, he and Juanita moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where she passed away in 2016. He remained active in Birmingham before declining health led to his move to Florida for long-term care.
Family was very important to him and while living in Pensacola for 43 years, he and Juanita were very active in the raising of their children and were active grandparents to their six grandchildren. In Pensacola, he tapped into his “gift of gab” for a very successful career as a sales agent for Prudential Insurance. He loved driving, and after retiring from Prudential he continued work as a school bus driver and tour bus driver, traveled extensively in their RV and flew to many other destinations. Always social and outgoing, he was active in the Knights of Columbus, Jaycees, Boy Scouts, RV travel groups, golf groups and many other organizations.
He is survived by three children, Donald Fournier, Jr. (Miriam) of Tampa, FL, Martin Fournier (Deborah) of Hoover, AL, and Evamarie Roby (Stephen) of Jacksonville, FL, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and brother Kenneth Fournier of Kingsland, GA.
A Catholic Mass will be held on December 30, 2024 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Tampa, with burial in Pensacola at a later date.
