

Elizabeth “Betty” Louise Henry (Meares), 94, of Seminole, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025. Born on December 6, 1930, in Largo, Florida, she was the daughter of Wesson and Hazel Meares and a proud descendant of a Pinellas County pioneer family. Betty spent her youth in the Anona and Indian Rocks areas, where her deep roots and strong family legacy were formed.
A graduate of Clearwater High School, Betty went on to serve her country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War era. While serving, she met the love of her life, Robert “Hank” Henry, to whom she was later married. After completing her military service, Betty built a long and respected career as a secretary at the Bay Pines Veterans Health Care Center, where she eventually retired.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert “Hank” Henry; her parents, Wesson and Hazel Meares; her brothers Charles, Chester, Jimmy, and Wesson; and her sister, Judy Soles. She is survived by her nieces Nancy Kelly, Sharon Herbitter, and Becky Roth; and by many cherished in-laws, especially Rosemary Tindall and her son Chip, who faithfully stood by her side with unwavering care until the very end.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Bay Pines National Cemetery.

Betty’s life was marked by service, loyalty, and love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
