FOTIS KYRIAZIS knew who he was and was a man driven with purpose. He was driven to live up to his name “FOTI” which means “light”; but not just any light. His last name is a derivative of “KYRIOS” which refers to “THE LORD” as in “Kyrie Eleison”. His very name was his very purpose: to be the Light of the Lord Himself. And FOTI did just that. He shown and all of those around him benefited. His eyes could instantly convey his tender-hearted affection and appreciation. As light cannot accommodate darkness, his eyes could also convey a message that would send the recipient a chill. A wise person knew that FOTI was no pushover. As a matter of fact, FOTI went out of his way to help countless people. He was truly made in Christ’s image and likeness as he did not know how to judge. He might have spoken fluent Greek, English, French and Arabic but the one language he knew best of all was LOVE for that is all he ever radiated and exuded all the days of his life. He truly shown the light of our Lord – unpretentiously. His laugh was loud. His reflections were deep. He had a perfect sense of timing and discretion for words spoken with various volumes that he knowingly chose. He also had a perfect sense of timing and discretion for silence. His extended families, friends, and acquaintances immediately took pause to consider that even in a brief momentary encounter, FOTI brought zeal, joy, and hope. But no one knows this better than his wife Andrea, and his children Chris and Vicki. His immediate family was his passion. Having the privilege of being their neighbor for many years, I can personally tell you that they were more than just a family. FOTI was the patriarch of his beloved family with his most cherished and beloved Queen Andrea of 50 plus years. And they were all best of friends. In this framework and structure they became a singular unit that lived life, undaunted by life’s ups and downs. No matter what life through at them, a resilient and loving family that people always want to be around. FOTI’s zeal and passion to shine the joyful light of the Lord will continue through Andrea, Chris, and Vicki, and to all who had had the privilege of FOTI’s genuine and deep presence that instantly conveyed his joy of heart, presence of mind, firm convictions, and passion for life. “You will be missed FOTI mou. We know you are laughing and probably making the Lord laugh too. We will see you again.” May FOTI’s memory be eternal.
