He was born in East Liverpool, OH and moved to Pinellas County in 1970. He was a Veteran of Korea and Viet Nam and a member of VFW , American Legion and USAF Sergeants Assn. After retiring from the AF he worked for the City of Pinellas Park from 1971 to 1982.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Louise Ann Borling; sons, Gerald C. (Peggy) Popejoy, III of Pinellas Park, Colonel Jay R. (Nancy) Popejoy of Virginia Beach, VA, and Alan B. (Sandy) Popejoy of Tampa; a daughter, Susie (Mike) Sigler of East Liverpool, OH. He also leaves 9 grandchildren.
The family will hold a private ceremony with burial at Bay Pines National Cemetery. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Bay Pines Community Living Central Staff for their dedicated care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Liverpool HS Alumni Association Clock Tower (Scholarship Fund) 330-385-0591.
