Gloria M. Lyons, of Largo, Florida, passed away on June 18, 2026, in Largo, Florida. Gloria was born on April 5, 1926, in Rockville Centre, New York, and celebrated her 100th birthday on Easter. While surrounded by friends and family honoring this significant milestone, she said it was “the best day of her life.”
Gloria was married to Joseph P. Lyons, and together they raised five children: John, Thomas, Kathleen, Christine, and Sharon (deceased).
Gloria was a homemaker all her life—caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 26 foster babies. In addition to the responsibilities of raising a family, Gloria managed the household finances and ensured that her family always had what they needed. "Glo and Joe" provided a safe, happy home for their family, and we are blessed with fond memories that span from childhood through adulthood.
Over the years, we celebrated together often and with much laughter. Although money was sometimes tight in the early years, Gloria and Joe had a gift for making ordinary moments feel special. Family gatherings, holidays, and everyday life were filled with love, humor, and a sense of togetherness that made us feel rich in all the ways that mattered most. Through their example, they taught us the value of family, resilience, and finding joy in simple things.
Gloria's greatest pride was her family. Together with her husband, Joe, she had the ability to take any occasion—whether an ordinary day or a special event—and make it magical. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, foster children, and many others whose lives were touched by her quiet strength and steadfast devotion to family and friends.
