Helen was born on December 31, 1923 in Wyandotte, MI to Steve and Anna Zdanowski. She grew up with one sister, thirteen months older, named Genevieve (Jean). She graduated from Northeastern High School in Detroit. After graduation, Helen worked for a dentist and the US Post Office.
She married Roman Stack in 1943. They had six children; Teri Dunlap, Gayle Bache, Renee Stack Hofer, Linda Thornton, Dena Stack and Michael Stack. She has seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Helen and Roman moved to South Bend, Indiana in 1962 and then to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1974.
Helen enjoyed reading at the beach, social activities and has always been very active in her church. She enjoys music and loves to dance. She would watch American Bandstand with her oldest daughters and learn the latest dance craze then teach the girls in the neighborhood, just laughing and enjoying every moment.
She lost Roman after 49 years of marriage. She later decided to take the opportunity to travel. Some of the places she was able to visit were London, Paris, Rome, Greece, China, Ireland and fulfilled her dream of seeing Israel.
Helen remained close to her children and had immense pleasure being with or talking with her grandchildren. She has, by her example, taught her children to be caring, thoughtful and positive.
