Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 19, 1938. James was the second of three children. He enjoyed school and played high school football. James married his high school sweetheart Helena and had a daughter named Pamela a couple years later. After high school, he worked at the GE manufacturing plant and served in the Ohio Army Reserve. He was federally activated leading up to the Berlin Crisis in 1961.
After completing his contract with the Army Reserve, the family followed his parents down to Saint Petersburg, Florida. James worked at his parents restaurant and invested into a couple of real estate properties. Here, a son named James was born to the growing family. Sadly, Helena and James grew apart and ultimately separated.
A few years later, James met the love of his life Patricia. They were married August 3, 1968 and welcomed a son named Zane a few years later. They raised the three children together and were very happy. Sunday dinners, extended family picnics, sporting events and bowling were enjoyed through the years by the whole family. James and Patricia were married for over 50 years.
While attending St. Petersburg College, James developed an interest in sales. Upon earning his business management degree, he transitioned into a career as an Insurance Agent. James enjoyed meeting new people and assisting them in securing their families future. He continued advising clients for more than 40 years until retiring from the insurance business and closing his office.
James is survived by his sister in law Betty Weidner, his sister Patricia Weidner Yankey, his daughter Pamela Strickland, his son Zane Anthony Weidner and his grandson James Joseph Weidner. He was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Joseph Weidner, his brother Jack Weidner, his son James Daniel Weidner, his wife Patricia Ann and his grandson Christopher Strickland.
