BURDA, Joseph C., 91, of Seminole, Florida, formerly of Morea Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord October 4, 2014 at Suncoast Hospice Care Center Mid Pinellas in Pinellas Park, Florida. He was born in Morea, Pennsylvania, the son of Michael and Nellie (Kraska) Burda. After High School, Joseph joined the Civil Conservation Corps as a Quartermaster. He proudly served his country as a member of the Navy Seabees during World War II. Upon his return from the war he began working in the coal mines of Northeastern Pennsylvania and later became a master carpenter and was a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local #645 in Scranton, PA. Upon retirement in 1990, Joseph and his wife, Mary, moved to Florida. He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Largo, Florida and Knights of Columbus Council #2580 in Frackville, Pennsylvania.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary; a daughter, Cherylann George, and her husband Gregory of Zionsville PA; a son, Robert J. Burda, his wife Christy and their two children Casey and Robert of Largo FL.
He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph M. Burda.
The family requests that donations be made in memory of Joseph to the American Lung Association.
