Patrick “Pat” Davanzo passed away at home on May 22, 2021 at the age of 83. His eleven-year battle with Myasthenia Gravis showed his determination to face life’s challenges with true courage. In spite of pain and tremendous setbacks, Pat stayed strong in spirit until the end, always looking for the next comeback rally.Pat met Dottie, his one and only, while still in high school. They married following his return from service in the Marine Corps on Okinawa. Pat’s two proudest achievements were his daughters Donna (little Pat) and Theresa (Pat Jr.), both of whom inherited some of his quirky traits that they mocked growing up.
Following a career in banking in New York, Pat moved his family to Florida where he owned rental properties and two successful restaurants, as well as flipping houses way before it was thing. He was a skilled woodworker and an avid reader. He loved spending time with Dottie on the scenic deck at Northfork, their vacation retreat in Franklin, North Carolina. He enjoyed having family and friends visit there and also appreciated it just as much alone with a cup of coffee and a good book overlooking the mountain view. He and Dottie were at their best and happiest at Northfork. Pat’s family and friends have no doubt that his eternity will be spent there on the deck watching over us.
Pat is survived by Dottie, his wife of nearly 60 years, daughters Donna (Carl) Mainguth and Theresa (Greg) Dary; grandchildren, Ana, Alex, Patrick and Madison; his favorite sister, Jo McKiernan (Matt), nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and his best friend of 50 years, Joseph “Joey” McDevitt.
