Paul was born on August 19, 1940, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to Elizabeth Claire Herring and Paul Herman Maeder. He graduated from Largo High School and went on to build a life defined by dedication, service, and deep faith.
On December 31, 1960, Paul married the love of his life, Sandra Kay (Cherry) Maeder. Together they shared a long and beautiful marriage until her passing on September 30, 2025. Their union was a testament to enduring love and commitment.
Paul proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard, retiring honorably after 22 years of service as a Chief Quartermaster. His military career reflected his strong sense of duty and integrity.
A faithful member of 60th Street Baptist Church, Paul’s life was centered around his love for family, church, military service, and his unwavering faith in God. He will be remembered for his devotion, strength, and the example he set for those around him.
He is survived by his daughters, Tina Dugan, Susan Maeder, Teresa Valentine, and Darlene Milliner; his grandchildren, Jamie Valentine, Jason Valentine, Samantha White, Amanda Huffman, and Stephanie Marks; and his great-grandchildren, Jaxon Marks and Matthew Huffman. He is also survived by his siblings, Barbara Walker, Grace Rossi, Marshall Maeder, Marvin “Duke” Maeder, and James Maeder.
Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Kay Maeder.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on May 12, 2026, at 60th Street Baptist Church, 9309 60th Street, Pinellas Park, Florida 33782.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Paul’s honor to 60th Street Baptist Church or Suncoast Hospice Foundation.
Paul’s legacy of faith, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
