WOOD, Robert (Bob) Carver passed away on December 4, 2018 at the age of 93 in Seminole, FL. He was born on February 6, 1925 to Paul and Anna Wood in Ludlow, MA. Like many men born during “The Greatest Generation” following high school, Bob joined the US Navy June 1943. Bob continued his naval service in the reserves for the next 42 years and rose to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. Bob completed his MA degree in Education following his dual BA degree in Biology/Education and began teaching at Palmer Middle School in Palmer, MA. On August 26, 1956 he married Karlin Jane Kent in Columbus, MS and continued teaching in MA. Then in 1958, Bob and Karlin moved to St. Pete, FL, where Bob began a teaching career as a science teacher at Madeira Beach Junior High School. He retired in 1985 with a 27 year career with Pinellas County School System. Outside of teaching and navy duties, Bob’s passion was spending time on the water on one his many sailboats. Bob never met a stranger and he found people from all walks of life interesting and therefore worth visiting with especially if they owned a sailboat .He is survived by his wife, Karlin of 62 years of marriage, his daughter, Dr. Dale and husband Donnie Holcombe, his daughter, Victoria Wood, his son Paul and wife Belinda Wood, his two grandsons, Lorin and Bret Wood, and granddaughter, Matylin Wood. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held 2 pm Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019 at Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home, 7950 131st St. N. Seminole.
