Aunt Rose was a great aunt. When my brother and I were little, she and Uncle Johnny sent our family wonderful presents from the many foreign countries they visited during his Navy service. When I went away to college, they were there, too, while he finished his first college degree. And, on Easter, if they were in Michigan, they always met us at our country church. When my husband and I visted Florida—as we did many times, we often met Aunt Rose and Uncle Jonny at the Madeira American Legion for dinner The last time I saw her, Aunt Rose gave me a beautiful wooden tray with a butterfly under glass. She and Jonny got it in Brazil. I have that tray in our Michigan home. The butterfly is still shiny and gorgeous. I treasure the tray and love that she wanted me to have it. May she rest in peace. She was a very kind and gentle lady.
