Tom is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Susan; his two children, Doug (Kelley) and Linnea Davis (Anthony); and his grandsons, Conor and Ethan, who brought him tremendous joy.
A Wisconsin native by birth, Tom spent his early years in Waukesha. After his service in the Wisconsin National Guard, he worked in the grocery business for several years before beginning his professional career in banking at First Wisconsin National Bank. His ability to work with both people and finance led to his recruitment by a large automobile dealer in Madison, Wisconsin—launching what became a long and successful career in the automobile industry.
In 1979, Tom and Susan moved their young family to Florida to escape the Wisconsin winters, eventually settling in Seminole, a place they came to love and still call home. Tom enjoyed a well-earned retirement for the past 15 years.
A lifelong passion of Tom’s was the game of golf. Never one to watch it on television, he preferred the competition and camaraderie of playing the game. Whether walking the course or recounting a round afterward, Tom found great joy in golf and the friendships it fostered.
Second only to his family, Tom loved games. If you spent any time with him, chances are he asked if you wanted to play—cards or board games alike. His specialty was cribbage, a game he proudly taught his grandsons and continued to play with them through the final days of his life, most often on the winning side. While playing, Tom was always willing to help, but he firmly believed you should help yourself too—he would never simply let you win.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Details will be shared once arrangements are finalized.
