Thomas R. McKeon 75, of Largo, Florida, died suddenly, on August 30, 2020 at home. Tom was born in Pensacola, Florida to Thomas and June McKeon. He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa “Tracy”; children Sean (Jenn), Tom, Stacy (Zachary) Derleth; step children, Linda (NicK) Pileggi, Rick (Tizziana) Kosick; half-sister, Janet (Jim) Lamb; two sisters; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Tom was a “man of the people”. He served as “one of Philadelphia’s finest” for 20 years. While serving on the PPD, he traveled to Littleton, Colorado and became a Certified Master Journeyman Farrier, returning to care for the mounted troops. He also was the Farrier to the Philadelphia Carriage Company, the zoo and served area race tracks. He was at his best working with horses. He served his country in Viet Nam (US Army). After retiring from the PPD, he moved to Largo, Florida and enjoyed the “Southern lifestyle” making many friends, fishing and enjoying his boat. Shortly after, he became very involved in the community, starting with United Citizens. Tom was President of the Hillcrest Manor HOA for many years, member of the St Pete Breakfast Optimist Club, Commander VFW Post 10094, and Fire Commissioner, Indian Rocks Beach. He ran for the Pinellas County Commission and Sheriff. Tom was a patriot in every sense of the word. He was also President of the 720th Retired Military Police Association for 12 years. Tom loved and lived life to the fullest. He and Tracy had great pleasure traveling and after 2 cross country trips, decided to travel the world visiting many countries, making friends in each. He and Tracy enjoyed cooking together and traveled to New Orleans Culinary School bringing back wonderful recipes!
