O’Neil, Thomas P., “Tom”, 84, of Largo, Florida, died Friday, September 30, 2016. Mr. O’Neil was a Linotype Operator and worked for The Old St. Petersburg Evening Independent, The Tarpon Springs Leader, The Clearwater Sun and The West Palm Beach Post-Times. He served in the U.S. Navy aviation BOSN’s mate, and on his last ship, the U.S.S. Gilbert Islands, he was the catapult captain.He was an avid fisherman and in the 1950s, he was the president of the Suncoast Shakers. He was a familiar figure on Don’s dock at John’s Pass. Tom was a member of Madeira Beach American Legion Post 273 and a member of Elks Lodge 1912 in Madeira Beach, FL.
He was the father of Patrick, Michael and Paul. He was brother of Richard (Dick), deceased.
