In 1973, William moved from Stamford, Connecticut, to Florida, where he ran his own drywall construction business. He was known for this faith and his strong work ethic.
He married Betty Jane Johnson on September 19, 1959, and they shared a loving marriage until her passing in 2010. He is survived by his sons Allan Colpitts, Michael Colpitts, Richard Colpitts (Cindy), and John Colpitts (Marcia Kim), as well as many grandchildren.
A devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church in Pinellas Park, William found joy in his faith, family, and following all sports but especially loved the Tampa Bay Rays.
