Born on April 7, 1934, in St. Petersburg to William Gales Sr. and Charlie B. Carson, William proudly served his country with honor and distinction. He earned his GED while serving in the United States Air Force, where he completed 11 years of dedicated service. He then continued his military career in the United States Army Reserves, serving for an additional 12 years before retiring.
Following his military service, William went on to work for the United States Postal Service, where he continued to demonstrate the same commitment and integrity that defined his life until his second retirement.
William was a man of deep faith. A devoted servant of God, he led by example—through kindness, humility, and a lifetime of service. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a source of light, strength, and guidance. His presence will be dearly missed, but the legacy he leaves behind lives on in the hearts of his children: Rene Gales Wilson, Bill Watson and Natasha, as well as many other family and friends.
A visitation for William will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at Lords House, 731 Queen St S, St. Petersburg, FL 33712. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, July 1st, 2025 at 9:30am at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
